Every blessing we experience—whether seen or unseen—comes from Allah alone. From the air we breathe, to the food we eat, to the guidance of Islam, every grace is a sign of Allah’s Mercy and Generosity. Allah reminds us in the Qur’an:

“And whatever blessing you have, it is from Allah.”
(Surah An-Nahl 16:53)

Recognizing the countless graces of Allah is the first step toward true appreciation. When a believer reflects on their life, they realise that even the smallest moments of ease, comfort, and relief are gifts from the One who knows what the hearts need. The Prophet ﷺ taught us to look at the blessings around us, appreciate them, and avoid being distracted by worldly comparisons. Gratitude is a means to contentment, peace, and spiritual growth.

Appreciation begins in the heart, is spoken with the tongue, and shown through our actions. Saying Alhamdulillah is a powerful expression of gratitude, but true appreciation also appears in how we live—by obeying Allah, using His blessings in the right way, and showing kindness, humility, and compassion to others.

Allah promises that gratitude brings increase:

“If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.”
(Surah Ibrahim 14:7)

This increase may come in the form of more blessings, tranquility in the heart, or closeness to Allah. When a believer appreciates the graces of Allah, their life becomes filled with meaning. They recognise that every blessing is an opportunity to remember Allah, thank Him, and draw nearer to Him.

Ultimately, appreciation is not only about acknowledging what we have, but recognising the One who gave it. It is a lifelong practice of being mindful of Allah’s Mercy, relying upon Him, and expressing gratitude through worship, patience, and righteous deeds.

May Allah make us among those who remember His blessings, appreciate His favours, and live with sincere gratitude. Alhamdulillah for every grace, every moment, and every breath.
